BOUCHERITE RUG – MOROCCO

DESCRIPTION/EXPERTISE
Boucherite rugs were made by women who used scraps and old clothes to make them. That’s why they were also called “carpets of the poor”. Many designers love them for the timeless design and extravaganza in colour. Few though, know that during the years the Berber women gave a meaning to each colour they used.(As many Berber women couldn’t read or write carpets were made as a kind of diary.)The colour black f.e stands for dead, pink for a daughter, blue for a boy son etc… By consequence each carpet can be read as a life (happy or sad) story.
Thanks to our collaboration with the Boucherite Museum of Marrakech we can offer the carpet with an attest of authenticity as , due to their recent revival, many of these carpets are copied and made nowadays.
